E-mails with all those ">>>>>>>"
AOL users should read & use this.
Q:
I’m sick and tired of receiving forwarded e-mails with all of those “>” characters in them. It makes the actual content very hard to read… if I can even find it. I’d also like to easily strip the extraneous characters when I forward messages. Is there a program that does this?
A:
When people see forwarded mail in their Inbox, they usually start moaning and groaning. Some of these forwarded messages are important, but the majority of the ones that flood into Inbox are filled with corny jokes that you probably didn’t want to receive in the first place. To make matters worse, most of these forwarded messages are formatted so badly that it’s hard to even read them. Whenever you send or receive a forward, the first thing you should do is run it through Stripmail.
With Stripmail, you can paste the garbled text of the forward into the program, and it will clean up the mess. It does this by stripping out the unneeded characters, formatting the text into paragraphs, and indenting. You can have Stripmail do each of these procedures by themselves, or just do everything at once. The resulting output is a lot more pleasing to the eyes, and will help you begin to tolerate the barrage of stupid jokes that come your way. Maybe.
