E-mails with all those ">>>>>>>"

AOL users should read & use this.

Q:
I’m sick and tired of receiving forwarded e-mails with all of those “>” characters in them. It makes the actual content very hard to read… if I can even find it. I’d also like to easily strip the extraneous characters when I forward messages. Is there a program that does this?
A:
When people see forwarded mail in their Inbox, they usually start moaning and groaning. Some of these forwarded messages are important, but the majority of the ones that flood into Inbox are filled with corny jokes that you probably didn’t want to receive in the first place. To make matters worse, most of these forwarded messages are formatted so badly that it’s hard to even read them. Whenever you send or receive a forward, the first thing you should do is run it through Stripmail.

With Stripmail, you can paste the garbled text of the forward into the program, and it will clean up the mess. It does this by stripping out the unneeded characters, formatting the text into paragraphs, and indenting. You can have Stripmail do each of these procedures by themselves, or just do everything at once. The resulting output is a lot more pleasing to the eyes, and will help you begin to tolerate the barrage of stupid jokes that come your way. Maybe.

A New Start

No one seems to like change. We all are hooked on a start page for one reason or another. Most seem to use what Bill (Microsoft) wanted you to look at, and that is the MSN page. I tend to switch mine about every month or so. Today I changed to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page This is a nice information page with no strings attached. You do not have to register, but the option is there if you like. This is a well laid out page that you may want to have a look at, you just might learn a thing or two along the way.

Flat Screen Tune-Up

So you just brought home a new laptop or a flat screen to replace that old CRT monitor. Now you need to fine-tune it just a bit. Microsoft has a page to tune it up with just a few clicks. It will not make a very big difference, but every little bit helps. The URL is:

What's wrong with my camera ?

Q.
I just bought a 2.5 Megapixel camera. I took a few pictures of my kids and wanted to have them printed at Wal-Mart at 8X10, the clerk told me they would not look good at that size, they had to print them in 5X7 format. What’s wrong with the camera I bought?

A.
I’m afraid you did not buy a camera capable of 8X10 prints. To have your prints look their best in 8X10 you need a higher Megapixel camera, Look at the chart below and it recommends 3 to 3.9 for 8X10. If you can't return your camera to trade up for a better one, tell the clerk to print one at 8X10 anyway. You may think it looks OK. My camera takes 5 Megapixel images and I can see little difference in the prints when using 3 instead of 5 Megapixels. But my wife tells me I can’t hear either. A rule of thumb, “Bigger is Better”.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

From a Canon Web page:

The photo print quality of your images depends on the camera's "megapixel rating." The higher number of pixels your camera has, the higher the resolution (or sharpness) of your images---and the larger your prints can be without quality loss.

APPROXIMATE PRINT SIZE BY MEGAPIXEL
5 X 7 2.0 - 2.9 MP
8 X 10 3.0 - 3.9 MP
11 X 14 - 4.0 - 5.0 MP
18 X 24 - 6.0 - 8 plus MP
