Domain name

Q.
I want to get my own domain name and store a Web Page what is the best place to look.

A.
You have come to the right place to ask. In my book there is only one place to look and that is IX Web Hosting. This company has everything you will ever need both for the big corporation or the little first time personal Web Page guy (or Gal). Please click this link:

https://www.ixwebhosting.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=wb9otx

and this will save me the time of me telling you about them. They will do a better job of it anyway. By the way I have all of my pages hosted by them.

Tips on this downloading files thing

Q.
Could you give me some tips on this download files thing. I'm just not sure how or if I should........................

A.
To download a file, follow these steps: Click on the file you want to download. With most browsers, a window will pop up asking you if you want to 'open' or 'save' the file. Choose'Save'. Your browser should then ask you what folder youwant to save the file in. Usually it will automatically go to whatever folder you last saved a file in. It is a good idea to create a special folder (called C:\downloads, for example) where you save downloaded files. Then you will always know where they are. When this window appears you should also make a note of the name of the file - you will need to know that to find it later. Your browser will then begin downloading the file. How long this takes depends on the size of the file, the speed of your modem, and the level of internet traffic at the time. When the file is done downloading, start "Windows Explorer" (not Internet Explorer) and go to the folder where you saved the file. Double-click on the name of the file (for winzip, this would be either "wzip.exe" or"winzip.exe", although you may see it simply as"wzip" OR "winzip" depending on your Windows settings). Make sure you know what you are downloading by reading the user agreement on the page. Sometimes (not often) there will be spy-ware program (like Gator) embedded inside the main program that you would not want. Read the fine print prior to clicking the download link.

Ur' getten rich

I was out on a service call and the client made the statement, “you are getting rich with this computer business”. Just to set the record straight I will be paying over $650.00 for Internet service per year. I pay over $300.00 for storage of my Web Pages. I have only two clients that provide residual income, the rest is composed of house calls where you drive 25 miles, spend two hours, and collect $35.00 and hear complaints to the price. I do a one time Web Page for an average of $300.00 about twice a year. I have to have a state of art computer just to keep up; this means a new motherboard, chip, and memory must be punchiest every six months or so. I must read about spy-ware, viruses, and new software’s. Oh I have to purchase books tools, and network hardware.
Yep, I’m getting rich OK. I wouldn’t trade it for the world, I love what I do !

Don't get loaded

Most ISP’s (Internet Service Provider’s) want you to think you have to install their software to use their services. Not true, that is in most cases, AOL I’m sure won’t work without their CD or download. But who’d want to anyway. Earthlink, Crosspaths, and lots more will load your computer down with unnecessary files (junk) that you don’t need or in most cases want. All you need from them is a user name, password, and phone number to surf the Net and read your mail. Windows has a wizard to set your connection up and this is very simple to use. Don’t load your computer down with all that hype stuff, ( surf 5 times faster with hi-speed XXX ) Because you just don’t need it, plain & simple.
