With between 20 and 24 inches of snow on the grown outside I now know the meaning of cabin fever. My car is hopelessly covered and would take a bulldozer to just get it out of the driveway. Oh well I have nowhere to go anyway. I have been passing my time making SVD’s for my American Legion Post. This was done to serve two purposes, one being to display all the photos that I have taken over the years of Legion functions. The other is to get them onto CD for back-up purposes. The first will make a very nice gift to the members. We have a large screen TV and DVD player that will display the photos. I noticed the are several people in the collection that that have passed away. The VCD will keep their memories alive forever. I didn’t realize I had 1,350 photos on the hard drive. If I had lost these photos in a crash it would be a great loss. This VCD and the copies of it will make sure they will be preserved.
There is a new restaurant / tavern in Versailles called the Yellow Dog. As I was looking over some 1940s music on the net I found and borrowed a song called “The Yellow Dog Blues”, I converted it with a CD burning program called Nero to a music format so it can be played on any CD player. I will deliver it to the owner this afternoon, I’m sure he will get a big kick out of it. It is nice to see people smile when you give them a little present with no strings attached.
My firewall keeps telling me there is a program trying to run and it is blocking it from doing that. I can’t figure out as of yet how to either stop it or permit it, So this is my next job today looking for what it is and how to stop it. The program is called “ntoskrnl.exe” , So if you have any information on this let me know.
The basic computer class that will start on January 5th has room for two more, so let me know if you would like to join in on the fun. Email me at wb9otx@gmail.com Another thought is I still have a few invitations available for G-Mail if you want to try it. Send me a note at the same above address.
I’m still telling everyone that deals with photos to get the free program Pacasa. It’s a must have.
Lunchtime – talk to you later,
Jack
