Open Office 2.0 just released - Save $419.99
I just looked on Staples' Web Page and found Microsoft® Office 2003 Professional Edition - Full Version for $419.99
If you’re looking for a low cost (like free) alternative to MS Office Open Office is definitely it. Get it at www.openoffice.org and enjoy. Remember when buying a new computer, your software may cost as much or more than the computer its self. Open Office will load and or create the DOC files just the same as MS Office. The spreadsheet, database, & etc. are compatible also. If you have dial-up you may want to have a friend that has broadband to download it for you as it is almost 77 meg. Burn it to CD and you will be all set to go.

Save yourself some money
I notice I've been seeing a great number of people spending their hard earned dollars on virus and firewall combanation programs. An example of one such program is Norton Internet Security 2006 ,another one is McAfee
If you have XP as an operating system there is a built in fallwall. I grant you it is not great but if you are on a dial-up internet connection you probably don't need any other. On the other hand if you are one of the lucky ones to be on broadband you may want a better one. A very good free one is Sygate. This is a great program that I have used for years.
A very good free virus program is AVG and it can be found here.
Now both of these programs have a pay version & you will have to deside if you need the extras they have. I have never used the pay versions, as the free ones seem to be all I have needed.
Make up your own mind but investigate the altenitives first before you plunk down your cash.

Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery

Wednesday morning was a very special day for me. I am a member of the Versailles American Legion Post # 173, Our Post performs grave side memorial services for Veterans. For the first time I had the honor of visiting the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at Madison Indiana. What a beautiful place. With Veterans day next week you should make the short drive to see it. They have a Web Page with a few photos and information at:
http://www.in.gov/veteran/cemetery/index.html
If you have broadband you can view a Power Point slideshow, but it is very large (69 Meg) from this page. If you can't make it on Veterans Day, Next time in Madison, go out of your way to see it. The address is 1415 North Gate Road, this is on the growns of the state hospital. Here is a map to help you find it. Click for Map
